First, the fact that the secondary warlords (each faction is supposed to have 2) are rare. just your Warlord and his, to the death.Д¬omplaints: A few problems mar an otherwise great game. It has a very fantasy feel to it, and is quite fun to play. The Verdict: I'd say it's pretty good assuming that AEG does a good job of balancing and errattaing the cards. Time to play: I've had no game of warlords go over 45 mins (and that was the first game I played)and I've had some games finish on the first turn (say 2 minutes) with good/bad rolls/strategy. The humans seem VERY weak right out of the box, since most of there good charcters are rare. If you have the demo packs by the way, I wouldn't alow you to move those cards to the new game, except for cards which are already known to exist. There are a few very powerful cards for every faction though, and even the weakest deck can get lucky with a few well placed blows or good strategic moves. The fact that it's all based on D-20's throws probibility for a loop, since so much depends on the dice rolls.ДЇaction Blanace: While it's very early to gague, the Orcs (Nothrog) in my opinion have it the best, simply due to there superior common characters. How it plays: I'll say one thing, I've never seen a game where fortunes twisted so fast, not even Magic! The fact that everything hinges on your warlord is fun, and makes for some amazingly fast play, with the ocasional well matched game dragging out for eternity. The cards are easy to read, and most of there abilities are pretty self explanitiory. How it looks/feels: The art is pretty good, very high fantasy, with a few real gems, and a few ho/hum cards. The game ends when someone's warlord (primary character, usually tough as nails) dies. Once both players pass, the turn ends and everyone untacks and draws to 5 cards, which is the hand size. Each player takes an action, usually involving attacking, moving a character forward or backward, or playing a card from his/her hand.

Each faction has there own partiuclar focus, though each has representitives from every class, the overall 'theme' of your deck is usually determined by the faction your playing. It's remarkably similar to DND in that respect.ДЇighters, Clerics, Rogues and Wizards can play different cards based on there level, position, and class. About 90% of the characters have only 1 wound. if the character runs out of wounds, he dies. If he manages to meet or beat the targets 'Armor Class' he hits and wounds the character. This is essentually how the game controls powerful characters, by putting them in the back, they do not get to fight for several turns.ДЄ character 'Spends' himself to attack (tap), and rolls a d20 and adds his 'attack bonus'. This lets you leave more vulnurable or injured characters back behind the front lines. The game begins with each player having a warlord ready, but fairly far from the lines of battle, 2 fairly powerful characters close but not on the front line, and 3 weak characters on the front rank. Warlords is AEG's attempt at a 'DND' card game, using many of the exact terms and more then a few 'in jokes' from RPG's, many of the abilities are names of ADND 3rd edition spells and feats.
